Your Opportunity:

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a registered nurse with advanced knowledge, skills and competencies. The NP integrates elements into their practice such as diagnosing, ordering and interpreting investigative tests, treating health problems and prescribing drugs. The Nurse Practitioner is accountable and responsible for the safe provision of nursing care in the home/community setting, consistent with the scope of practice as established by the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) The Nurse Practitioner provides a standard of care to clients that will meet individual client needs in accordance with established nursing standards, policies and procedures of Alberta Health Services. The Nurse Practitioner combines the nursing profession\'s focus on improving health and preventing illness, with enhanced knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Required Qualifications:

Masters or PhD in Nursing required. Current, or eligible for, Nursing Practitioner permit to practice with CARNA. Eligible for a nurse practitioner practice permit conditional to CARNA receiving positive reference(s) based on 300 - 600 hours of nurse practitioner practice in Alberta to practice and use the protected title of Nurse Practitioner (NP) in Alberta, a person must be registered with CARNA as a Nurse Practitioner (CARNA registers Nurse Practitioners in one of three streams of practice). Applicants for CARNA registration as a Nurse Practitioner must have completed 4500 hours of registered nursing experience satisfactory to the Registration Committee and hold CARNA registration 2.
