The Nurse Practitioner will work collaboratively as part of our health team professionals in an interdisciplinary model and collaborate with the physician and psychiatrist to meet the unique needs of patients requiring nursing consultation. By utilizing theoretical and clinical expertise, the Nurse Practitioner delivers advanced practice nursing to patients and families with complex situations within CATC's inpatient centres. This position will be accountable to the Executive Director for day-to-day matters and to the on-site designated Physician for practice-related matters.


The Nurse Practitioner will be retained on a fee for service contract and will be required to work on-site (approximately 10-15 hours per week) and also provide on-call support as required (for 24 hours shift increments). Schedules may fluctuate based on business needs.

Fee Schedule:




On-site rate: $80 per hour (for approximately 10-15 hours per week)


On-Call Rate: $150 for each 24 hour shift (approximately 3 days per week)


On-Call Call Rate: $20 for each 15-minute call that occurs during the on-call shift

Key Responsibilities:



Conduct medical evaluations including ordering testing, patient examinations and will develop patient treatment plans. Diagnose and treat acute, episodic or chronic illnesses Prescribe all necessary medications and treatments Facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals and medical facilities Communicate with collaborating physician Delivers primary health care in the management of acute and chronic medical conditions, therapeutic management, health promotion and disease/injury prevention in order to deliver comprehensive health services Performs physical examination and identifies and interprets normal and abnormal findings
Orders diagnostic investigations, and interprets results using evidence-based clinical reasoning
Participates with the Medical Doctor and other senior management staff in the development and implementation of evaluation processes and the identification of strategies to continually improve clinical outcomes and effectively manage risks. Ensure CARF standards are evident in daily practice. Ensure patient records are properly maintained in compliance with applicable legislation and divisional expectations.

Key Qualifications:



3 + years nursing experience, with mental health and addiction expertise preferred. Current registration in the Extended Class (Nurse Practitioner) with the College of Nurses of Ontario is required. Active membership in related professional associations required, e.g. NPAO, RNAO. Mental Health Nursing certificate preferred. Masters of Nursing Required Innovative, creative and professional role model. Excellent assessment and clinical skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to prioritize/organize multiple demands. Ability to work autonomously. Experience in administering Opioid Antagonist Treatment such as Methadone or Suboxone. Working knowledge of Mental Health Act and community mental health resources. * Highly skilled in assessment and treatment of psychiatric disorders, including PTSD, mood and anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, delirium, depression, suicide prevention, and the management of aggressive behavior.
