Nurse Practitioner - Sleep & Respiratory Care (with Obesity Medicine Integration)

Role Overview

The

Nurse Practitioner (NP)

will work closely with sleep medicine physicians and respirologists to deliver

front-line care

in sleep and respiratory health. You will support patients through

diagnostic testing, treatment initiation, ongoing management, and education

. The role also integrates obesity management, recognizing the strong overlap between weight, respiratory disease, and sleep apnea.

Responsibilities (Collaborative Model)

Conduct comprehensive assessments, focusing on

sleep apnea, insomnia, COPD, asthma, and obesity-related conditions

Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests (e.g., home sleep studies, spirometry, bloodwork) in collaboration with supervising physicians Prescribe medications and initiate evidence-based therapies within NP scope of practice Support patients with CPAP/BiPAP initiation, troubleshooting, and follow-up, in collaboration with the sleep physician Provide counseling on

sleep hygiene, respiratory health, weight management, and lifestyle strategies

Refer patients to specialists as needed for care outside NP scope Document all encounters according to CNO and clinic standards
Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner licensed in Ontario (Primary Health Care NP or Adult NP) Strong interest or experience in

sleep medicine and respiratory care

Additional interest in obesity medicine considered an asset Comfortable working in a

collaborative model

with physicians and allied health teams Excellent communication and patient engagement skills
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $65.00-$70.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 30 per week
