Your Opportunity:This is an exciting opportunity at the Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital. The facility offers a Med/Surg Unit, LDRP, Surgical Services, IVT/OPD and a 24/7 Emergency Department. The Nurse Practitioner (NP - All Ages) is a Registered Nurse who holds a Master of Nursing, or equivalent graduate degree, with a focus on advanced clinical nursing practice. The NP provides expert clinical care in managing the health needs of individuals, families and communities and requires further knowledge and decision making in assessment, diagnosis, and clinical management. Reporting to the Site Director, this position functions as part of an interdisciplinary team, seeing clients across the life span. The NP utilizes the nursing process, critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills to provide care to individuals, families, groups, and communities. The NP will also perform well baby exams on newborns to ensure safe discharge, provide support to nurses in obstetrics, and will be a valued member of the interdisciplinary Inpatient Care Team, IVT/OPD and Emergency, working independently or in collaboration with the physician on call. The primary responsibility of the NP is to provide comprehensive direct patient care as a central member of the team. The NP is authorized and competent to perform comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, intervention, management, referral, and evaluation of patient care across the continuum of health care services. The NP provides leadership and actively participates in program development and evaluation, research, and clinical teaching activities. The NP participates in interdisciplinary collaboration in the practice setting to determine, and regularly review, local guidelines for drug prescription, distribution, monitoring, and record keeping ensuring consistency with provincial prescribing and distributing guidelines.Description:As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Required Qualifications:Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program and a minimum of master\'s degree. Registration with CRNA on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:Current NRP and ACLS certifications are required. Recent experiences working in an Emergency/Acute Care setting. Computer literacy skills mandatory (i.e. Connect Care, NetCare, etc.). Must understand and practice within full scope of their practice in an interdisciplinary team environment. Must be able to support flexible work schedule as we continue to grow and develop our NP program. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to enable working directly with patients and their family members. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team environment. Ability to function independently. Excel at working in a dynamic fast paced environment. Work well under pressure and stressful situations. Preferred Qualifications:Application and knowledge of current research; with ongoing interest in research. Completion of one or more of: Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Trauma Nurse Core Course, or other advanced clinical nursing skills preferred.
