Your Opportunity:Reporting to the Manager of Medical Outpatients at the Foothills Medical Centre, the Nurse Practitioner is a self-directed advanced practice nurse functioning as an integral part of the Alberta Thoracic Oncology Program at the Foothills Medical Centre. The primary responsibility of the NP is to provide comprehensive direct patient care for outpatients referred to the clinic as a core member of the team. The ATOP NP is authorized and competent to perform comprehensive assessment, triage, diagnosis (including ordering and interpretation of tests), intervention (including prescribing of medications), management, referral, and evaluation of client care. The ATOP NP works in close collaboration with another specialist MD\'s. The NP provides leadership and actively participates in program development and evaluation, research, and clinical teaching activities.Description:As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems.
