Your Opportunity:The Section of Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) provides comprehensive, tertiary inpatient acute and complex care to children in Southern Alberta, SE British Columbia, and SW Saskatchewan; a catchment area of approximately 2.5 million people. We run a busy service and provide 24/7 inpatient coverage for approximately 80% of hospitalized medical patients. We provide consultation to subspecialty, surgical, and psychiatry inpatient services, and provide support to our regional partners across Southern Alberta. The PHM service consists of 7 general pediatric inpatient teams including: 2 clinical teaching teams (generally acute care), 2 non-teaching acute care teams, 2 non-teaching complex care teams, and 1 admitting service. We have 1 overnight team consisting of a PHM staff, a senior resident, and 2-3 junior learners who manage reassessments of inpatients while also admitting new patients from multiple areas (mostly the emergency department, but also transfers from NICU/PICU and regional sites). Staff Hospital Pediatricians at the Alberta Children\'s Hospital are currently responsible to lead any emergency resuscitation codes outside of the ER and ICU-units. We are a dynamic and diverse group of physicians who are very collaborative and enjoy mentoring, teaching learners, and working within a multidisciplinary team.Description:As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Required Qualifications:Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program and a minimum of master\'s degree. Registration with CRNA on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 5 years of experience in Pediatric care. NP clinical experience in Pediatric care within the last 5 years. Working knowledge of healthcare IT systems (Alberta Netcare, Connect Care), Desktop IT skills with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Demonstrates and communicates respect to all in the workplace, and engages with the team, patient, and families in acknowledging, addressing, and resolving conflict: Models excellence in Professional Practice by adhering to relevant provincial and federal legislation, CRNA Standards of Practice and Guidelines, and the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics as well as AHS organizational requirements; Identifies and practices within individual scope of practice and competency; Maintains clinical competency, including procedural skills relevant to practice; Displays and models professional behaviour that enacts AHS values; Demonstrates stewardship of health resources balancing patient and health system outcomes; Models patient and Family Centered Care Principles.
