Unionville Home Society and its affiliate corporations operate a long-term care home, seniors' housing, a seniors' active living center, an adult day program, and geriatric outreach services. Position



Brief Summary: The Nurse Manager is responsible for performing a variety of duties to provide quality nursing care to residents. The Nurse Manager, in conjunction with the Director of Care (DOC) and the Administrator, establishes specific goals for determining work procedures and expediting work flow while ensuring compliance with all operating policies and procedures inclusive of the Long-Term Care Homes Act and the Fixing Long Term Care Act. The Nurse Manager communicates and supervises regulated and unregulated personnel to provide daily reports and other periodic reports, and for performing all the duties of a Registered Nurse, when required.

Essential Job Functions:



Performs functional duties to provide quality nursing care to residents to maintain or attain the highest practical level of functioning and to coordinate total nursing care for the residents. Assists in the development of departmental goals policies and procedures. Participates in Nursing Department staff orientation and works with the Clinical Quality Educator to ensure personnel are current with mandated training, and on-the-floor procedures.

Qualifications



Required Education:



Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or equivalent, from a recognized institution Current Certificate of Competence (in good standing) with the College of Nurses of Ontario Knowledge with current legislation and regulations of the College of Nurses of Ontario and the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021 is an asset

Experience:



A minimum of 3-5 years' experience at a managerial level in long term care; is an asset Current knowledge of geriatric/long term care best practice and standards, is an asset

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:



Sound judgment and problem-solving skills;

Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretion;

Proficiency in computers - Microsoft Office, Work, Excel and Scheduling software;

Demonstrated leadership and management skills;

Outstanding organizational skills to manage competing timetables and responsibilities;

Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy;

Empathetic attitude and desire to contribute towards the well being of the elderly;

Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

Excellent interpersonal skills/customer focused;

Ability to work independently and with others;
