Reporting to the Director, Manager, or designate, the Nurse Informaticist leads and promotes the integration of computer and communications technologies and clinical change initiatives that automate and/or enhance evidence-based clinical practices, access to patient/client information and clinical documentation via the Electronic Health Record (EHR) in collaboration with clinical operational leaders, service, program, staff and physicians

As an integral regional member of a multi-disciplinary team, the Nurse Informaticist works to develop and redesign workflow and processes to improve the overall effectiveness, efficiency of Island Health.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

Graduation from a recognized nursing program or evidence of an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.

Positions in IHealth require three years\' recent related experience in a health care environment, including experience using related computer technology, clinical informatics, clinical change management, and/or project leadership.

Positions in Public Health require three years\' recent related experience in a Public Health environment, including experience using related computer technology, clinical informatics, clinical change management, and/or project leadership.

Additional information for applicants

This position will be supporting the IHealth Tertiary Activation specifically as it relates to Computer Order Entry (CPOE) and The Best Possible Medication Health History (BPMH) and Orders Reconciliation/Management in the Electronic Health Record. Applicants should have a strong background in nursing with 3-5 years of recent clinical experience in complex care and/or acute care preferred. Experience in leading quality improvement initiatives and change management/stakeholder engagement is an asset and should be referenced in resume/cover letter. While the Nurse Informatics position is posted as 0800-1600 Monday to Friday. We are required to cover operational and project need. This requires candidates are able to work onsite days, evenings, and nights during activations and cover night time on-call hours. Rotations changes are a requirement and can be 8-12 hours as needed for the success and support of the implementations.
