Your Opportunity:
The Health Link Quality Assurance Coordinator (QAC) is an in-scope position reporting to the Health Link Manager, Learning and Development. The Health Link Quality Assurance Program is based on Primary Care Alberta's foundational strategies and values, organizational and professional standards, and on best practice standards. The QAC has a leadership role in this advanced practice area and is responsible and accountable for providing performance coaching, mentoring, and clinical support to Health Link Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and other teams as required. This role contributes to quality and safety initiatives by participating in staff education sessions, conducting call reviews and assessments, ensuring coaching guidelines align with clinical practice, and engaging in coaching conversations with staff. The Health Link QAC plays a key role in ensuring the delivery of exceptional service to Albertans, while fostering staff engagement in the workplace. The role supports individuals and teams in setting and achieving their goals, embracing challenges, and promoting growth. Working independently, the incumbent must demonstrate a clear understanding of the challenges of teletriage practice in order to contribute to continuous improvement in Health Link services. Effective leadership and team collaboration are essential to this role. Excellent critical thinking, clinical judgement, strong organizational skills, and experience in managing competing priorities, as well as interpersonal and conflict management skills are required for this role. The Health Link Quality Assurance Coordinator must be self-directed, self-motivated, flexible, and adaptable.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate must be a registered nurse with a baccalaureate degree (or the equivalent in education and experience) in good standing with CRNA. Minimum of 7 years nursing experience in a variety of acute and community healthcare settings. The incumbent must have at least 2 years of telehealth triage nurse experience within the last 5 years, with proven expertise using Schmitt Thompson guidelines. They must have experience and be able to demonstrate current knowledge and ability to apply adult learning principles, coaching concepts and practices. Must possess strong leadership skills and the ability to work independently. Exceptional communication, collaboration skills, active listening and empathy when working with staff and management. Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to handle sensitive and ethical issues. Demonstrated analytical, decision-making, and critical thinking skills. Capable of thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while remaining committed to teamwork. Well-developed and creative verbal and written communication skills are required. Must have solutions oriented problem-solving and analytical skills with a proven ability to apply quality improvement tools and processes. Advanced computer skill and knowledge in Microsoft Office products (Word) is required. Must have a minimum of 35 words per minute on typing test. BCLS-HCP certification required. Current registration with CRNA.

Preferred Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree in Nursing. Experience within the last 2 years in telehealth triage leadership role. Advanced knowledge of protocols, policies, standards and techniques for contact centre practice and professional practice is preferred. This position will be part of Primary Care Alberta effective November 18, 2024.
