The Nurse Clinician (NC), reporting to the Unit Manager (UM), provides clinical leadership within an integrated Mental Health and Medicine program at FMC. This role supports daily operations of the inpatient unit and collaborates with the Outpatient NC, ensuring seamless patient care across CEDP programs. Key responsibilities include overseeing admissions and discharge planning, facilitating multidisciplinary rounds, leading nursing assessments, and supporting smooth transitions in care. As an on-the-floor leader, the NC integrates psychiatric and medical best practices, offers education, coaching, and mentorship to staff, and promotes evidence-based care aligned with Recovery Alberta and organizational policies. The NC also assists the UM with staffing oversight, scheduling, and maintaining safe care delivery. Additional responsibilities include implementing Accreditation Canada standards, quality improvement initiatives, and leading change in unit processes. The NC collaborates closely with the Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Psychiatry Program (CAAMHPP), supporting shared clinical goals, providing education and mentorship across inpatient units, and enhancing nursing capacity. The role is central to coordinating care for eating disorder inpatients, including managing the waitlist, responding to consultations at multiple sites, and ensuring continuity of care with the CEDP team. The NC fosters strong multidisciplinary relationships, facilitates program and clinical meetings, and supports staff orientation, training, and ongoing development. Flexibility in scheduling may be needed to meet educational and mentorship needs. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. You will use an integrative leadership approach in assisting, planning, implementing and evaluating care needs, while assuming responsibility for staff assignments, patient flow and clinical resources.
