We are seeking a
Nurse Case Manager (Maternity Replacement)
who is passionate about supporting people through their healthcare journeys and helping employers, insurers, and partners achieve positive outcomes. In this role, you'll make a real difference by guiding employees through complex health and return-to-work processes.
About the Role
As a Nurse Case Manager, you will manage Short-Term Disability (STD) cases, accommodation cases, and complex medical cases. You will review medical information, coordinate care, and ensure treatment plans are medically appropriate, cost-effective, and aligned with client policies, all while supporting successful return-to-work outcomes.
Schedule:
Monday to Friday
7.5-hour shifts
Responsibilities
Case Management:
Review medical records, assess treatment duration, and ensure care meets employees' medical needs.
Communication:
Serve as the main point of contact between employees and employers during absences; maintain accurate case notes and documentation in OHGMed.
Assessment & Recommendations:
Recommend additional assessments as needed (e.g., Ergonomic, Independent Medical Evaluations, Fitness-to-Work).
Compliance:
Ensure all work complies with PIPEDA, HIPAA, and relevant provincial legislation (WSIA in Ontario, WCB in Alberta, Workers' Compensation Act in BC).
Requirements
Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) licensed in
Ontario, Alberta, or British Columbia
Minimum 5 years of experience in a disability management environment
Experience in claims adjudication
Strong background in psychiatric disability management
Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
Proficiency with computers and case management systems
Professionalism and confidence in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Workers' Compensation (WSIB/WCB/ WorkSafeBC) in your province
Strong decision-making, critical thinking, and conflict resolution skills
Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
Team player with initiative and sound judgment
Experience preparing and facilitating graduated return-to-work programs
Knowledge of relevant provincial legislation for your region
