Position Overview
NPH is offering a
Referee Internship
for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in basketball officiating and event operations. Reporting to the
Manager of Referees
, interns will assist in officiating games, supporting event execution, and learning the fundamentals of leadership within a basketball environment. This internship provides direct exposure to referee training, mentorship, and the opportunity to contribute to creating a safe, fair, and fun atmosphere for all participants.
What You'll Do
Support referees in officiating basketball games according to NPH rules and standards
Learn and apply referee training, rules, and best practices
Assist event staff and operations teams with on-site needs
Observe and practice conflict management and professional communication on the court
Embody and promote the NPH culture while engaging with players, coaches, and fans
Take on leadership responsibilities in a learning capacity, setting a positive tone at events
What We're Looking For
Passion for basketball and interest in officiating
Previous basketball or officiating experience is an asset, but not required (training provided)
Strong communication and decision-making skills
Willingness to learn, take feedback, and develop leadership qualities
Flexible availability, especially evenings and weekends
