We\'re looking to give young adults in-demand skills that get their foot in the door of a growing and expanding field that connects us together in the North. As a new hire in the Northwestel Work Placement Program, you will receive paid training at Yukon University to gain the entry level skills required to progress to regular Northwestel positions. Preference will be given to self-identified Indigenous applicants. WHAT YOU GET:
You will receive general training for 6-weeks at Yukon University.
After successfully completing the 6-week program you will have 2 University credited courses from Yukon University.
You will earn $23.48 per hour during training, Monday to Friday 8:30 \xe2\x80\x93 4:30 pm.
Next, choose which path you want to take. Get further 6-8 weeks of training as a Service Technician or Customer Service Representative.
Employees who successfully complete the program will be offered permanent positions in Whitehorse and select Northern communities.
Northwestel will provide selected candidates from outside communities with temporary accommodation while in Whitehorse for the training period.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Anyone interested is encouraged to apply, however, Preference will be given to self-identified Indigenous applicants.
High School Diploma or equivalent by June 2023.
Reside in the Canadian territories or Northern British Columbia
Available to begin training at Yukon University June 19, 2023
EXPECTATIONS TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
Excellent attendance.
Consistent, active participation.
Demonstration of receiving and applying coaching and feedback.
Successful completion of required courses and coursework.
