A nose for news and excellent written and verbal communication skills are the key to success in this position. As a Multimedia Reporter, you'll get to cover a full range of topics including politics, crime, community features, arts, culture, and sports that will be published across our print and digital platforms. Knowledge of the North and its Indigenous languages and culture would be a great advantage in this role!
The successful candidate will be a team player, able to multi-task and work in a complex print and digital publishing environment, thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment and is keen to learn and develop their skillset.
Qualifications:
Superior writing ability for print and web.
Understanding of how to drive website traffic and audience engagement through multimedia news content generation.
Practices proper grammar and is familiar with Canadian Press style.
Capable of writing succinct, informative articles that uphold a journalistic professionalism our readers come to expect.
Experienced in photography, video shooting, and InDesign.
Acquainted with the tools and software necessary to bring a story to life.
A valid driver's licence and reliable vehicle are required.
Compensation:
Expected annual wage: up to $55,000
We offer a competitive salary plus a substantial northern living allowance.
Willing to pay reasonable moving expenses with a one-year commitment in the North.
