The Multilingual, Immersions & Community Art Programs within the College of Arts and Science offers non-credit programming all year round to children, youth & adults with new offerings every season in art and various languages. This unit is dynamic, community-focused and cost-recovery.
Primary Purpose:
The Non-Credit Assistant Program Coordinator supports the coordination, development, and delivery of high-quality non-credit programs in Fine Art and French for both adult and youth learners. This role contributes to the success of lifelong learning initiatives by ensuring programs are inclusive, engaging, financially sustainable throughout the year, dynamic, and community-focused in a cost-recovery environment where close collaboration exists with instructors, students, parents, and staff.
Nature of Work:
This position involves a mix of administrative, programmatic, and instructional support responsibilities. The incumbent reports to the Program Coordinator and collaborates with faculty, instructors, and administrative staff to deliver a variety of non-credit offerings, including community arts classes, language programs, and summer camps. The work environment is dynamic and student-focused, requiring flexibility, strong interpersonal skills, and a passion for education and community engagement. The incumbent must demonstrate flexibility in responding to shifting deadlines, program schedules, and stakeholder needs.
Typical Duties or Accountabilities:
Assist in the
planning, coordination, and delivery
of non-credit programming such as:
Community Arts & Artisanship classes (for adults and youth); Summer camps; Certificates in Community Arts & Artisanship; Multilingual Conversational Languages Program; and, Three 5-week Explore French Immersion Programs (Spring and Summer; online and in-person).
Collaborate on
curriculum development
in fine arts and language instruction.
Provide
student advising
and support registration and program-related inquiries.
Assist in preparing and managing
cost-recovery budgets
and entrepreneurial programming models.
Contribute to the
development and execution of marketing plans
and promotional strategies.
Support the
coordination of staff and instructors
, ensuring safety protocols are met--particularly for youth programming.
Foster a learning environment that promotes
creativity, inclusion, and student success
.
Participate in ongoing
review of programming and operations
in consultation with instructors, students, parents, camp counsellors, and the Program Coordinator.
Contribute administrative and operational insights
to improve programming efficiency and student experience.
Education & Experience:
Post-secondary education
in a relevant discipline such as Arts, Education, French, or Continuing Education.
Equivalent
combination of education and experience
will be considered.
Prior experience in
program coordination
, especially in community arts, language instruction, or adult/youth education.
Prior experience working with
children and youth
in educational or recreational settings is an asset.
Experience with
cost-recovery budgeting
or entrepreneurial program models is preferred.
Skills:
Excellent communication
skills (oral and written) in English; bilingualism in French is necessary asset, especially for supporting immersion programs
Organizational and time management
abilities to manage multiple priorities, projects and timelines.
