Job Description



Job Title: NIHB Support Clerk, Full-time, one-year term. Location of Position. Corner Brook or Gander. Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Rate of Pay: $42,500/per annum : Reporting to the Director of Health and Wellness, the NIHB Support Clerk provides office administrative and clerical support to the Health and Wellness Department regarding general day-to-day operations. The NIHB Support Clerk will greet and respond to general inquiries from members and visitors. The NIHB Support Clerk will also be responsible for assisting members with completing their NIHB claims paperwork and the processing of NIHB claims. The NIHB Support Clerk will comply with established organizational policies and procedures while adhering to the records management practices of the organization. Responsibilities:

  • Greet members/clients/suppliers/visitors to the organization professionally and respectfully.
  • Answer general inquiries via telephone and email.
  • Direct telephone inquiries to the appropriate staff member
  • Organize and maintain an adequate supply of office supplies.
  • Preparation of documents using computer word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
  • Provide secretarial and administrative support to management and other staff, as required.
  • Ensure files are stored and maintained as per the Qalipu Electronic Records Management System and Quality Management Protocols.
  • Respond to member NIHB queries regarding claims.
  • Ensure recipient information is correctly inputted into the claims processing system.
  • Processing of member\'s Non-Insured Health Benefit claims.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications: Education: Completion of post-secondary education in Office Administration, Business Administration, or another related field. Experience: One to two years of experience working in a client or customer-based environment is required while experience working in the medical field or within community service delivery is also an asset. The ideal candidate would possess knowledge and experience in the following areas include handling confidential information, communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and commitment to client-focus. Working Conditions: This is an office-based position with duties predominantly met during regular working hours. Some travel and flexibility of work schedule may be required.
