Night Supervisor (part Time)

Job Description

This is a newly created Part-Time position with a salary range of $40-$42 per hour, working 15 hours a week.



Reporting to the Director of Care, this position supervises the nursing team in each home area, and builds strong relationships between HMLTC, its residents and families, and ensures the provision of all care services meet regulation and best practices.

The Night Supervisor provides professional nursing care to residents, and supervises care given by RNs, RPNs & PSWs.

Operational excellence is a priority at Humber Meadows, and the Night Supervisor is responsible for leading the nursing team in providing high standard care and services, in addition to making sure all documentation is completed, and serves as the the key liaison for all residents and family members.

In addition, the Night Supervisor duties include:

Planning, directing, developing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating all resident care services; Overseeing clinical care processes, (i.e. following individual care plans), and report issues to the daytime clinical leadership; Liaising with hospitals, doctors, external providers, and interdisciplinary services for effective care delivery; Actively participating in committees and run in-services/education as needed for night shift; Coordinating the development, implementation, review, and evaluation of resident care plans, Enforcing timely completion of RAI-MDS assessments Promoting a resident-first philosophy, Upholding the Resident Bill of Rights and FLTCA (Fixing Long Term Care Act) regulations; Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team for a resident-centered care approach; Following and enforcing protocols pertaining to the supply, control and safe keeping of drugs and narcotics, on all shifts Following and enforcing protocols pertaining to recording and storing medication accurately on all assigned shifts Ensuring all medication errors are reported to the Director of Care in a timely manner, participating in all associated investigations; Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care to meet the physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and social needs of the residents, ensuring all suggestions and findings are communicated to the interdisciplinary team. Keeping residents and families updated on health status and changes; Ensuring quality care and a safe, effective, and efficient work environment; Maintaining accurate and complete records of nursing care delivered; Leading in the coordination and implementation of best practices and risk management initiatives; Conducting regular audits and in-services for continuous quality improvement; Maintaining accurate and complete records of nursing care delivered; Demonstrating a professional working knowledge of all equipment used in the delivery of nursing care; Following all policies and procedures; contribute to the development of nursing policies; Responding to all emergencies immediately and act as the incident manager until relieved by a manager or emergency services; Following up on all concerns/complaints in a timely and professional manner; With support of the Director of Care, directs, supervises, evaluates, and performance manages personal support workers and registered team members; Monitoring performance, conducting performance appraisals, and working with the Director of Care to resolve performance concerns; Leading, coaching, and mentoring team members; supporting continued learning opportunities and fostering a positive working environment; Acting as the department lead for staff training, education, and professional development; Collaborating with the Director of Care in the implementation and evaluation of the nursing department initiatives and functions Workings with the Director of Care, and other leaders as needed, to conduct investigations as needed and production of associated findings reports; Overseeing human resources functions including scheduling, orientation, health, and safety, return to work plans and performance management (progressive discipline, absenteeism management etc.) Modelling and fostering an environment of positive customer service in all aspects of care Carrying oneself in a professional and personable manner; always ensuring appropriate conversation and interactions with all stakeholders; Ensuring residents and/or families are kept up to date on health status, changes, and other pertinent information from HMLTC; Responding to resident and family concerns and reports to Director of Care or designate in a timely manner; Acting as a role model for nursing team members performing within the professional guidelines of College of Nurses, ensuring professional and respectful interactions with all stakeholders and interdisciplinary team members.
