Full-Time Journeyman Structural Welder Night Shift Foreman

to join our dynamic team of professionals

Reporting to the Production Manager/Shop Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising the night shift employees fabricating various metal projects in our manufacturing division using welding techniques and processes such as GMAW, GTAW, and SMAW. A CWB ticket for solid wire flat and metal core is required or would need to be aquired for this position. If you are a reliable self starter with a strong work ethic and organizational skills, and like to work as a part of a team we want to hear from you!

Reports to:

Production Manager/Shop Supervisor

1. Responsibilities:



Maintain excellent personal attendance record and monitor attendance of night shift employees

Lead production demands with night shift to manage timelines for performance in ways that comply with company's plans and vision

Supervise shop employees to ensure that work completed meets company and a pre-determined quality standard

Ensure that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks and receive applicable training on tools and equipment

Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching

Track and log production in all areas

Receive complaints and resolve problems as required

Assist in communicating company information to night shift employees on behalf of management

Contribute information in preparation of performance review contents and participate with management on delivery of

Ensure adherence to legal and company policies and procedures and work with Production Manager/Shop Supervisor to carry out disciplinary actions if the need arises

Thorough knowledge of safe operation of overhead crane, rigging practices and mobile equipment for material movement

Interpret part and fabrication drawings for quality checks

Accurately measure and verify material and identification as per assembly drawing requirements

Visually inspect finished product for quality and size of weld, tagging/marking and finish

Resolve quality problems or concerns in a timely fashion to meet project timelines

2. Requirements/Qualifications



Basic computer skills

Previous experience in a fabrication environment

Previous welding experience within a CWB certified facility required Ability to identify quality issues of welds e.g. undercut, lack of fusion, porosity, cold lap and spatter Effective communication skills to provide necessary information in a timely and accurate manner Ability to act with as well as promote ethical behavior Ability to adjust to changing production requirements and plan accordingly Strong organizational skills to maintain maintenance records regarding the status of equipment, repairs and issues Ability to encourage employee engagement and promote production goals and timelines Skill and ability to foster positive working relationships with employees
Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches, procedures and practices

Must have good communication, time management and organizational skills

Possess problem solving skills

Must be physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs. and be on feet for long periods

3. Health & Safety Responsibilities:



Active participation in company safety program

Follow safety protocol including wearing of required PPE and understanding and application of safety policies, procedures and practices

Thorough knowledge of safe work practices and the ability to promote and enforce safety rules and procedures Communication, monitoring and maintaining compliance with company safety rules, policies, practices, procedures and applicable legislation Maintain a safety-first priority and hold team accountable to safety guidelines at all times Report safety incidents and near misses in a timely manner

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $38.00-$42.00 per hour
