Position Overview
We are seeking a
hands-on, steady, and quality-driven Night Shift Manager
to oversee all evening operations. This position requires someone who can lead people firmly but fairly, maintain production discipline, and embed quality as everybody's responsibility across the shift.
As the most senior leader on-site during the night, you will manage the teams (including the Supervisor), enforce quality at each stage, and ensure that production, safety, and performance expectations are consistently met. The ideal candidate

process in industrial or automotive manufacturing environments and excels in both leadership and technical execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership, Accountability & Team Management
Lead the entire night shift team, including supervising and developing the Shift Supervisor
Set clear expectations at the start of each shift and follow up for accountability
Ensure every employee understands their role in quality control
Coach staff in real time, redirecting performance issues professionally and promptly
Maintain a steady leadership presence -- firm, fair, and consistent
Operations & Quality Leadership
Oversee all night shift production activities, ensuring throughput, quality, and deadlines are met
Enforce a "quality-first" culture -- in-process checks, final inspections, and prevention of rework
Conduct line checks and verify adherence to SOPs at each station
Identify defects immediately and ensure corrective measures are taken
Keep an active floor presence to anticipate bottlenecks, maintain flow, and support the team
Ensure accurate completion of NCRs, quality logs, and shift documentation
Safety & Compliance
Enforce all safety standards including PPE, lockout/tagout, and hazard controls
Conduct regular safety walk-throughs to maintain a safe, organized facility
Document and report any incidents, near-misses, or unsafe behaviors
Model and reinforce a culture of safety and respect
Inventory & Equipment Coordination
Monitor powder, materials, hooks, packaging, and consumables -- communicate replenishment needs early
Verify material entries in tracking systems
Ensure preventive maintenance tasks are completed and signed off
Communicate equipment issues to maintenance and day shift management
Communication & Reporting
Prepare nightly production, safety, quality, and attendance reports
Provide clear, actionable handoff notes to the day shift and Operations Manager
Document any deviations, slowdowns, rework, or quality concerns with full transparency
Communicate updates to internal teams and customer representatives when needed
Training & Development
Train new hires and existing staff on SOPs, quality standards, and proper workflow
Reinforce that
quality is everyone's job
, not just QA's
Identify skill gaps and recommend training or coaching
Foster a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and professionalism
Qualifications & Experience:
3-5+ years of experience in manufacturing,
powder coating
, or industrial/automotive environments
Proven ability to lead teams, manage supervisors, and enforce quality standards
Strong understanding of powder coating processes or similar industrial finishing operations
Proficient with production reporting, QA systems, and computer-based tracking tools
Excellent communication, leadership presence, and conflict-resolution skills
Diploma/Degree in Operations, Quality, or related field an asset
Forklift experience or mechanical aptitude is beneficial but not required
