The Night Auditor is a highly focused, service oriented individual, responsible for assisting in successful operation of the hotel overnight. The Night Auditor is responsible for conducting a nightly audit, balancing and consolidating departmental ledger accounts, preparation of various hotel operating reports and taking over duties of a Guest Services Associate. They will make room reservations, provide information and services to guests and receive payment for services as well as specific night duties including the entering of accounting information and hotel security. In addition to their regular work duties, the Night Auditor must provide consistently high levels of customer service, going above and beyond to provide guests with exceptional experiences while contributing to efficient operation of the Guest Services Department. Must be flexible to work some day shifts at the front desk as well.

Conduct a nightly audit, balancing and consolidating departmental ledger accounts, preparation of various hotel operating reports

Develops an awareness of local features, community events and services to facilitate guest service and communication

Respond in a courteous, professional and rapid manner to guest inquires and act to resolve service recovery situations resulting from guest concerns

Audits all charges and postings and correcting work as necessary including reconciling daily activity and closing all accounts in preparation for the new business day

Process all payments, formatting and distributing daily reports

Taking reservations in accordance with hotel procedure

Check guests in and out of the hotel in an efficient, courteous and professional manner

Count and verify cash, shift activity, keys, gift certificates, and wireless internet cards with departing shift

Respond to telephone, e-mail, and in-person inquiries. Refer all inquiries to the appropriate individuals, divisions, or departments across the organization.

Complete nightly rounds of building, observe and report any security issues

Communicate and coordinate guest's needs to other hotel associates/departments

Record pertinent information to guest files in property management system

Monitor lobby/business center and pool/fitness center areas to ensure areas are clean, safe and have appropriate supplies

Understand and comply with all health and safety rules, regulations and laws.

Conduct on the job training to new associates as required

Education, Experience, and Skills



Previous experience in hospitality or a comparable service industry an asset Demonstrated ability to modify, and understand financial information, data and basic arithmetic functions Computer skills and knowledge of various programs Must be able to work overnight shifts and some front desk day shifts
