New Grad Program

Candidates selected for this position will be included in Hydro One's New Grad development program.

Our New Graduate program reflects our long-term commitment to invest time and resources to build the best and brightest team. We are always on the lookout for individuals who have a passion for learning and are looking to build their career with Hydro One.

The two-year program offers a permanent position from Day 1, a combination of training and coaching, and the ability to rotate through several roles allowing New Grads to gain experience working on different projects and in different environments.

Program Eligibility

+ You have graduated with your bachelor's degree in 2024, 2025 or will graduate by May 2026
+ Or, you are currently completing a master's degree in a related field, you are graduating by May 2026, and have a maximum of 1 year between completing your bachelor's degree and enrolling in your master's program.
+ Good Academic Standing (A copy of your Official/Unofficial Transcript)
+ Valid, permanent driver's license (Ontario Class G)

Transmission & Stations Engineering

Engineers within Engineering Services at Hydro One Networks Inc. are engaged in a variety of challenging and exciting roles and responsibilities. Transmission and Stations Engineering provides multi-disciplinary engineering and drafting services to support Hydro One's capital work program. Transmission and Stations Engineering is split across four engineering disciplines - Stations, Protection & Control, Telecom, Transmission Lines and supported by the Engineering Enablement Team. Our team provides a full range of engineering services including feasibility studies, conceptual engineering, estimating, failure analysis, Protection, Control & Metering design, CADD Support, technical authority roles and support to our Planning, Operating and Field Organizations

We Are looking for a Electrical Engineering New Grad within our Stations team.

The

Stations Engineering Electrical team

is responsible forlocating and arranging substation equipment; sizing and arrangement of station bus conductor; the design of AC and DC station service systems, including transformer and battery sizing, distribution panel arrangement, arc flash analysis; designing grounding and lightning protection systems.

In this role you will learn:

Develop ability to assess design options and solutions Station electrical arrangement/ basic layout design ability Power system safety practical knowledge Gaining hands on experience with Hydro One transmission standards and industrial standards, for example, IEC, IEEE, CSA Development of planning skills through the prioritization of multiple activities Improving communications skills to communicate with internal and external stakeholders Gaining technical writing knowledge through the preparation and checking of contract documents, Scopes of Work, presentations, and technical reports and specifications Developing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with both internal and external customers Improving independent work ability Working knowledge and ability in using Microsoft applications, Hydro One computer applications, and other vendor provided programs and applications

Duties may include:

Preparation of drafting specifications/markups

Collaborate with others in the division in the development of design solutions

Utilization of software for engineering analysis, studies and equipment specification/selection.

What we look for:

An aptitude to learn High attention to detail Great verbal and written communication skills Self-motivated individual Interest in driving change and taking on new challenge A basic understanding and knowledge of electrical system engineering, A basic understanding of electrical calculations Great computer skills, with the ability to learn various software packages as required

Job Requirements

Must meet New Grad Program Eligibility Requirements University Degree - Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree Required Courses - Focus on Power Systems (Three Phase Machines, Power Engineering, Electrical Insulations) Familiar with using CAD software such as AutoCAD and PLS-CADD Previous co-op experience in a relevant field and industry is considered an asset
