How You Will Contribute:You will be part of a team of mechanical designers working on the design, implementation, and validation of complex mechanical assemblies of Ciena\'s next generation networking and optical platforms.
  • Under the mentorship of a senior engineer, you will be accountable for developing mechanical designs for the 3D physical infrastructure that enables Ciena\'s optical technology that are physically dense and thermally challenged.
  • Responsibilities include mechanical part and assembly design and documentation.
  • You will build relationships with other disciplines through the collaborative development of quality engineering products by considering all requirements.
  • You will present technical reviews to ensure designs are closely aligned with project requirements, architecture, timelines, and that risks/issues are clearly articulated.
  • You will work with operations and manufacturing to apply DFMA methods.
  • You will build prototype assemblies and write First Piece Evaluation (FPE) reports.
  • You will address sustaining needs for newly released and mature circuit packs and optical plugs to address customer and/or manufacturing issues and design improvements.
  • Work on root cause analysis of failed assemblies.

The Must Haves:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Proficient with CAD software, preferably Creo or Solidworks.
  • Experience with lab measurement techniques and test equipment.
  • This is an in-person position.
Assets:
  • Telecommunications experience.
  • 3D printer maintenance.
  • Experience in the design of plastic components (injection moulding) and metal components (sheet metal, machined, die cast).
Compensation & Benefits:The annual pay range for this position is $56,600 - $94,000 CAD.Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
