Residential Real Estate Legal AssistantWe are seeking a talented Residential Real Estate Legal Assistant to join our thriving team!In this exciting new position, our ideal candidate will:

  • Be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Have 3+ years of residential real estate experience in a law firm;
  • Be able to work as part of a team and have strong technical skills in Microsoft Office; knowledge in Lawyer Done Deal and/or Cosmolex (training will be provided) if required.
  • Possess strong attention to detail (both in documents and math);
  • Be able to multitask and prioritize workload;
  • Possess excellent communication skills;
  • Have superior organizational skills;
  • Be adaptable to changing situations/deadlines as they arise; and
  • Condo project experience would be an asset as well as any experience in commercial transactions and commercial financing.
In this role, you will be part of a team of paralegals responsible for:
  • Manage all files from inception (file opening) to close (purchase and/or sale)
  • Supporting large transactions up to the closing, including preparing and managing all documents and media required for closings, flagging documents for signature, preparing letters, managing sub-files and organizing closing books.
  • Proofreading documents and checking for appropriate formatting, spelling, grammar and clarity.
  • Preparing, editing, formatting, printing, scanning and revising correspondence, memoranda, reports, forms, labels as well as lengthy and complex documents through dictation, copy typing or other instructions, in accordance with the requirements set by the lawyer;
  • Complete all require transactions within the files;
  • Communication with lenders and brokers;
  • Preparation of all conveyancing documents (transfer of land, statement of adjustment, trust letters etc.);
  • Preparation of mortgage documents from various lenders and understanding
  • Mortgage instructions;
  • Preparation of final reports;
  • Preparing legal documents for various types of residential real estate transactions;
  • Conducting various searches as required;
  • Drafting routine correspondence;
  • Assisting with billing cycles using the accounting system;
  • Scheduling meetings;
  • Communicating with external and internal contacts;
  • Maintaining client files;
  • Communicating with client and opposing counsel;
