Position Description

Effective September 1, 2025, the Department of Paediatrics, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Division of Neurology at The Hospital for Sick Children, 555 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, an academic health science centre dedicated exclusively to children, affiliated with the University of Toronto, is recruiting a full-time permanent staff neurohospitalist.


The successful candidate will be an academically-oriented pediatric neurologist, who will work closely with the Division's operational leadership, and be committed to excellence in delivering high quality inpatient care, have a demonstrated interest in design and implementation of innovative, multi-disciplinary, collaborative clinical care pathways and have willingness to contribute to and lead quality and safety improvement initiatives of the Division.


The successful candidate's clinical duties will primarily include daytime comprehensive, collaborative, inpatient neurological care of all patients, including all neurology subspecialties, admitted under the Division's neuro-hospitalist service in rotation with other academic clinician faculty members. Night/weekend on-call duties will be shared equally among all faculty members. Opportunities for education and supervision of residents and other learners will be integrated into the inpatient service, post-discharge clinics, and ambulatory resident continuity clinics. Ample opportunities exist for academic growth through clinical research and quality improvement activities.


While subspecialty experience is not essential for the position, experience in paediatric neurohospitalist medicine, neuroinflammatory neuromuscular, and/or movement disorders will be an asset.


The successful candidate will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Rank and salary ($240,000-$300,000) per annum will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for a benefits package that includes medical, dental, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, group insurance, pension plan, vision care, academic allowance, and a relocation package.


All candidates must be able to function proficiently in English, hold an MD, MBBS or equivalent thereto and be certified or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or have comparable qualifications. Candidates must hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. This position will remain open until filled.
