ideal for a hands-on technician with strong practical knowledge of network hardware, structured cabling, and equipment installation.
The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently or with minimal supervision in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, terminate, and test network cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, etc.)
Mount and organize network racks and patch panels
Connect and configure networking devices such as switches, routers, and wireless access points
Setup and troubleshoot POS (Point of Sale) systems
Label and document cabling and equipment layouts
Maintain site cleanliness and follow best practices for cable management
Provide on-site support and basic troubleshooting for network connectivity issues
Coordinate with project managers or lead technicians as needed
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Proven hands-on experience with network cabling, terminations, and installations
Strong understanding of Ethernet, IP addressing, and general networking concepts
Experience installing and organizing network racks and cable pathways
Familiarity with configuring and deploying POS systems and related peripherals
Ability to read blueprints and network diagrams is a plus
Good communication and documentation skills
Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Must own standard technician tools including (but not limited to):
Cable certifier
Tone generator and probe kit
Continuity tester / Network cable tester
Multimeter
Network tester with PoE detection and link speed
Installation & Mounting Tools
Drywall saw or jab saw (for low-voltage wall plate cutouts)
Stud finder (for safe mounting on walls)
Measuring tape and level (for precise rack or faceplate placement)
Nut driver set / socket set (for tightening rack bolts and mounts)
Screwdriver set (flathead, Phillips, Torx, etc.)
Labeling & Organization
Label printer (you already mentioned - e.g., Brother P-touch or Brady labeler)
Cable tags and wraps (Velcro or zip ties)
Structured cable manager panels / D-rings
Velcro cable ties (reusable, safe for network cables)
Ladders & Lifts
6-12 ft ladder
Laptop or Tablet with:
Console cable (RJ45-to-USB or serial for switch/router configuration)
Safety & PPE
Safety glasses
Work gloves
Hard hat (if on construction sites)
Preferred Experience:
2+ years of experience in field installations or network infrastructure
Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, BICSI, or equivalent are a plus
