Job Description


Our client is seeking a creative and forward-thinking Network Security Analyst who is primarily responsible for positioning, configuration, provisioning and improving several types of network level tools and technologies. This would involve taking care of every aspect of network security and identifying and addressing security gaps in a network.
This person will interface closely with other Network administration teams, technical teams, Feature team, engineering teams and provide guidance to them on improving security posture from network side. You will be a part of the security operations team and interact with other security operation analysts for day-to-day activities.
The role will be primarily based out of Markham office. At present the whole team is working from home.
You will have an outstanding understanding of Network Security in technical areas and an interpersonal level for communication in a large financial environment.

Please note this is a hybrid role with the expectation to work out of our Markham head office location once a week.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in crafting policies on Network tools and technologies to defend the network infrastructure from Cyberattacks.
  • Ensure firewalls rules are reviewed to prevent inbound malicious threats efficiently.
  • Able to analyze network traffic logs during security investigations.
  • Track, record, monitors any security issue.
  • Ensure health checks and periodic testing of network infrastructure.
  • Be aware of the latest threats and advise on policies to be created on NGIPS devices.
  • Comfortable analyzing data, creating reports and presenting these to management teams proficiently.
  • Provide support on ad-hoc project work.
  • Establish and manage relationships with key internal business customers and external suppliers.
  • Prioritize and detail incident management from initiation to completion.
  • Assess summarize and call out potential breaches to leadership.
  • Assisting partners and staff with related queries.
  • Assist with the development of other operational/project documentation.
  • Provide support to other teams within the broader Risk Management Group, as needed
  • Researching of emerging threats to gain insight and understanding of the evolving threat landscape and its impacts
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
  • University degree in computer science, computer engineering or IT- related program is a must
  • Insurance industry specific background would be an asset.
  • An outstanding background in Cyber security operations and network security.
Experience
  • At least 5+ years of experience working in an enterprise IT environment, including 3 + years with main focus in Cybersecurity (network security)
  • Practical knowledge of web proxy security policy administration, management and design. Any experience with WSS or ProxySG would be a huge advantage
  • Knowledge of gateway security threats with an understanding of preventative technologies/controls.
  • Awareness and use of security and privacy concepts (e.g. international and industry standards, legal and regulatory constraints, etc).
  • Good, practical knowledge of general information technology including topics such as operating systems (Windows, UNIX, etc) and networking technologies.
  • Experience with gateway security technologies; security and infrastructure operations.
  • Good knowledge on DDOS and remediation measures.
  • Good knowledge on networking, IP address, OSI layers, routers, switches.
  • Good knowledge on network related threats and attacks and different protocols used to prevent them.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute and establish effective working relationships and collaborative work approaches with both internal and external peers.
  • Active Cyber security certification, such as CISSP, OSCP, etc.
  • Ability to effectively influence without authority efficiently
  • Outstanding communication, analytical, problem solving, and project management skills
  • Deep technical skills, knowledge of network protocols and network communication principles, understanding of vulnerabilities and remediation techniques.
  • Experience with crafting incident response plans and playbook.
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a balanced and controlled matter.
  • Outstanding communications skills including preparing briefings, presentations, and oral status reports
  • Possess strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities

  • Proxy, Firewalls, Wireshark, CDN technology, SIEM, NGIPS.
