Sr Network Management System Developer

As a Sr Network Management System Developer, you will be responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of networks by leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of the Network Management System across various segments. You will take ownership of complex technical challenges, driving them to successful resolution through expert analysis, collaboration, and innovative problem-solving. Within our Agile SAFe framework, you will play a key role in the scrum team, actively contributing to the release train and ensuring the timely delivery of robust, scalable, and high-quality EMS solutions. Your role will be instrumental in optimizing network performance, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring a seamless customer experience.
Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, and enhance Operational Support System and Network Management Systems for resource management, service ordering & monitoring, fault management, software upgrades, observability, and zero-touch provisioning solutions to ensure optimal network performance and reliability.
• Contribute to the design and analysis of network management applications for managing Lightspeed network elements.
• Drive vendor collaboration to evaluate and integrate network management solutions aligned with industry standards and emerging technologies.
• Oversee technical documentation to ensure high architectural integrity and development quality.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation to support transparency, maintainability, and operational efficiency.
• Contribute to the resolution of complex implementation and network issues through cross-functional coordination and root cause analysis.
• Design and maintain automated test suites to support network validation.
• Define and enforce network security standards to ensure system integrity and policy compliance.
• Contribute to system-level modeling, including interface definitions.
• Collaborate across engineering and operations teams to ensure seamless network integration.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in Python and Pytest for software development and testing.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols such as IP, MPLS, SR-MPLS, Ethernet, and VLAN.
• Experience with network management tools and frameworks, including NETCONF, Netcracker, OSS, and ONAP.
• Skill in using API proxy and protobuf.
• Familiarity with YAML and BDD test frameworks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with system lifecycle processes, including building a feature or product from scratch.
• Knowledge of network management standards like TMF and MEF.
• Exposure to Docker, Golang, and Ansible.
• Experience with DDOS protection and network security.

Work Environment
The work environment offers a flexible schedule with four days per week on-site and Wednesdays working from home. Arrival and departure times are flexible to accommodate traffic and personal needs. The role involves collaborating with a global leader in engineering services and offers the chance to be part of the largest space program in Canadian history. The project has a long-term schedule, providing opportunities for extended consulting.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Ottawa,ON.
