Scope:

Reporting to the Manager - SDE Engineering, IP Network Integrator will be leading department programs including IP networks services and all Rogers product/services which will utilizing Rogers IP networks. In the program, the successful incumbent will lead engineers from various department and perform the role of a leading architect and engineer in area of engineering which includes network programing, LAN/WAN, L2 Switching, L3 IP Routing (OSPF, EIGRP, ISIS, BGP and Multicast), MPLS-VPN, Network Security/Firewall technology and other IP services.

Responsibilities:

  • Guiding the team with strategic direction of the network, Service and Cloud infrastructure migration, Network Operations and Support teams to provide secure, reliable, scalable, cost-efficient
  • Worked closely with Planning and Architecture team to define overall Network standards and direction for the IP Network Engineering and align cloud architecture and standards with existing infrastructure and responsive, customer-focus strategy
  • Conduct Requirements Analysis for new and modified services and products and associated required technologies. Solution may involve new and untested technology, applications, or approaches. Requirements involve medium-to-long-term impact to the business.
  • Provide strategic direction on technology options & develop recommendations for a multi-vendor IP Network and cloud Infrastructure that includes Cisco/Juniper/Nokia Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Load Balancers and Security platforms.
  • Developed technology options analysis and providing an optimum recommendation that meets the stated requirements in functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, cost and support, within the specified boundaries determined in the Feasibility Assessment and Architecture Analysis documents
  • Produce clear, well-crafted design project plans with specified tasks, milestones, and effort required against the desired service introduction and/or modifications to existing services.
  • Lead a project team and ensure product and services will be deployed on time with quality.
  • Develop, execute and document the necessary testing requirements to evaluate the proposed designs and to validate the technology platform or systems, as well as any new software versions (laboratory, network verification, operational readiness), and provide direction / support to Network Operations for Production deployment.
  • Develop plans and criteria for a variety of engineering activities and seek opportunities to optimize networks
  • Identify and devise new and novel approaches and methodologies relative to established guidelines to effectively manage technical, product, or business risks.
  • Support operation teams in troubleshooting and restoration, root cause analysis. Participate in complex implementation activities as required by Operations
Qualifications
  • Education - undergraduate university degree.
  • Minimum - Cisco CCNP/CCIE certification or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10+ years of network design and support experience with a major Internet Service Provider (MSO or Telco).
  • Strong Understanding of both wireless (5G/LTE) and wireline (DOCSIS) technology
  • Expertise in LTE, 5G NSA/SA, 5GC, IMS technologies, DOSCIS Technologies(i.e vCCAP/CMTS/ICCAP/R-Phy), signal control protocols such as SS7, ISUP, Diameter and SIP and associated control networks design
  • Demonstrated experience setting up IP underlay networks (Leaf/Spine) and overlay networks (VXLAN; MPLS)
  • Experience should also include the foundations for cloud based infrastructure (Server, Compute, & Networking), software orchestration (MANO) & automation
  • Excellent knowledge and hands-on experience in managing, administering, troubleshooting and maintenance of VMware vSphere 6.5+ systems with expertise in ESXi, NSX, and VROps.
  • Direct work experience with Cisco (ASR9k, CRS, Catalyst Switches, Nexus 5k/7k), Juniper (MX, EX, SRX), Nokia (7750) and A10 (AX) families of networking, switching, load balancing, and security platforms.
  • Detailed knowledge of CoS, classification, queuing/policing and configuration techniques as well as the hardware dependencies.
  • Familiarity with FibreChannel based SAN, iSCSI, and NAS Storage technologies
  • Experience in the following networking technologies:
  • Routing Protocols: OSPF/MT-ISIS, MP-BGP (IPv4, IPv6)
  • Multicast Protocols: (PIMv2/IGMPv2/v3, Draft Rosen Multicast, BGP based NG-MVPN (mLDP))
  • Overlay Protocols: VXLAN (L2/L3 BGP EVPN Based), GRE/mGRE, IPSec, L2TPv3
  • MPLS (EVPN, L2VPN, L3VPN) LDP/RSVP-TE (+CSPF)
  • Policy Based Routing (VRF Route Leaking, Packet Classification/Action)
  • Network Translation (NAT444, 464XLAT, MAP-T/E)
Nice to Have:
  • Knowledge of network management tools.
  • Experience within Network Operations would be an asset.
