Summary
The Network Infrastructure and Cyber Security Intern will complete an 8-month work term beginning in May 2026. The successful candidate will support the organization's cyber security strategy through hands-on technical work and collaboration with various teams. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Responsibilities
Assist in the implementation and maintenance of technical security controls and solutions
Work with Precision's managed detection and response service provider to monitor and analyze security events and incidents, responding to threats in a timely manner
Support the development and deployment of security tools and technologies
Collaborate with IT teams to ensure secure configuration and hardening of systems and applications
Assist in the development and maintenance of security documentation, including policies, procedures and guidelines
Assist with security reviews and assessments of new and existing systems and applications
Support security awareness initiatives, including user training and phishing simulation exercises
Provide technical support and guidance to other teams on security-related matters
Knowledge & Skills
Exposure to cyber security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and endpoint protection is desirable
Learn to provide support and assistance to end-users
Familiarize yourself with ticket management systems
Understand the process of hardware recycling and inventory tracking
Receive guidance and mentorship from experienced IT professionals
Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs
Education
Currently enrolled in, or recently completed a degree, diploma, or technical certificate program in cyber security or a related discipline from an accredited post-secondary institution
Experience
Experience with TCP/IP networking
Experience with Windows operating systems and Active Directory-managed environments is desirable
Experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python) is desirable
Certifications such as the CCNA, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+, Associate of ISC2, CISSP, or Certified in Cybersecurity (ISC2) would set the candidate apart
Exposure to the Oil & Gas industry is desirable
