Job Summary:

The Network Engineer will be responsible to design and implement networking and telecommunications infrastructure solutions to both internal and external clients as part of a multi-discipline team. The Network Engineer is a subject matter expert who diligently assists with the improvement of service level on our data networks; provides input to the overall architecture, governance model and provides executive leadership, standardization and validation of the effectiveness of our infrastructure that is standards based, high performance, highly available and secure in delivering the required business functionality.

Reports to: Manager, Network Engineering

Key accountabilities:

1. Provide day 2 operational support, particarte in network related changes and patch the network equipment as needed.

2. Serve as a technical lead to design solutions for data and voice networking environment to meet our business requirements

3. Work closely with other project delivery teams to design high availability solutions for connectivity

4. Serve as 2nd level support for our networking environment. Analyze and troubleshoot network related problems & issues at all layers of the networking stack (principally layers 2 & 3).

5. Responsible for coordinating implementation of networking projects, including working with vendors & business partners to ensure that installations meet service level objectives

6. Participate in networking standards development and implementation

7. Analyze commercially available voice & data networking products and services to determine and recommend specific solutions

8. Effectively present information and respond to queries from senior management, clients and customers in a professional manner

Must haves:

  • Post secondary degree or diploma in computer science, information management or related field
Current Certifications: CCNP/CCIE, Fortinet NSE 4-6, AWS CSE etc.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years previous, hands on experience with implementation of network environments utilizing industry standards and best practices for local datacenters and in cloud e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud etc.
  • Outstanding troubleshooting skills and with working knowledge of Windows and Unix/Linux
  • Very deep TCP/IP knowledge and experience including multicast
  • Experience with Python, REST API, Shell or Ruby scripting to automate and solve network issues including problem identification, resolution, tooling, and reporting.
  • Experience with specific networking options, such as 802.1q, FCoE, BGP, MPLS, IPSEC, DWDM, VXLAN
  • Experience with IPv6 an asset
  • Experience with ACI an asset
  • Strong working knowledge of networking best practices and industry standards
