Network Construction Coordinator

Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Field Operations, the Network Construction Coordinator (the 'Coordinator') will be responsible for designing and coordinating new municipal and wide area network service upgrades, rebuilds, and project planning. The Coordinator manages both Inside and Outside Plant (OSP) of the NRBN network.

In addition to designing and coordinating new projects, the Coordinator plays an active role in customer service and retention. The Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all projects are completed to the customer's satisfaction and meet the standards as set forth by NRBN.

Key Responsibilities



OPERATIONS

Conduct field site walks with customer/building representatives to determine construction requirements and/or validate construction estimates Complete pre-sales/ pre-construction estimates as per municipal and hydro requirements within the area the estimate is requested Coordinate, direct, and schedule construction activity, with internal and external resources, for assigned projects ensuring the determined deadlines, costs, and quality of drawings are met Ensure that all components of the project adhere to current standards and all applicable construction regulations Complete post construction review/inspection to ensure that site conditions meet all applicable requirements of the permit authority Establish the necessary external resources for executing projects using provided estimating templates Transmit necessary deadlines in obtaining authorizations to the satisfaction of internal/external customers Responsible for negotiations (up to established limits of authority) with contractors of external services Assist contractors in problem solving to ensure deadline and budgetary adherence Install, operate, maintain, and/or repair NRBN's Optical Transport Network Maintain and repair NRBN's equipment and POP facilities Inside plant cabling as required on customer premises or in POP/OLT facilities Perform work in accordance with the provisions of the Canada Labour Codeand Regulations and all legislative, corporate, and departmental policies and procedures related to occupational health and safety Provide optimal customer service and offer support in customer retention by using processes and procedures that are customer-oriented and seek solutions to resolve service issues Focus on providing excellent customer service by using processes and procedures that are customer-oriented and seek solutions to resolve service issues
ADMINISTRATIVE

Apply for and manage all third-party permits and consents, as applicable for the assigned project(s) and maintain permitting records Organize quotation requests and quotation analyses with respect to the award of construction contracts, as applicable Coordinate material, cables, hardware, and work orders that must be delivered or provided to contractors or internal resources Review all constructed drawings for accuracy with appropriate staff/contractors prior to submission to GIS/Records, municipalities, and utilities Review, approve, and/or reconcile project-specific contractor invoicing Maintain and update records in a timely, logical, and organized manner Support the organization by fulfilling all other appropriate duties relevant to the role and assigned by Management

Education/Experience



A post-secondary education in Engineering is required and experience as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) is an asset. However, relevant formal training and work experience may be taken into consideration in lieu of the educational requirement Possess 2-3 year of construction/design experience in outside plant fibre, electrical or communication distribution systems

Working Conditions



Indoor/outdoor office environments and local vehicle travel daily Extended periods of sitting, intense concentration, repetitive tasks, and managing multiple priorities Frequent bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, climbing ladders, and walking Frequent local vehicle travel Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and driving on a regular basis Periodically work at heights or on ladders Occasionally required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry > 5lbs, < 75 lbs. for short periods of time Occasional use of power tools and energized equipment Occasional use of material handling vehicles and equipment (forklifts, etc.) Occasionally required to extend hours of work to meet demands or customer requirements Work in an "On-call" rotation to provide OSP support

Special Conditions



This position requires the incumbent to undergo a Criminal Records Check and submit a Canadian Police Clearance Certificate ('CRC'). This position requires the incumbent to obtain and produce a clear Drivers Abstract Must possess an Ontario Class 'G' Driver's License in good standing at all times with eligibility to drive NRBN-owned vehicles

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
