The successful candidate must obtain a Top Security Level clearance. Network Cabling Technicians assemble and arrange material and equipment, explain and verify work orders, drawings, specifications, particular needs, and instructions, run, pull, label, dress, terminate and splice copper and fiber optic cables, such as CAT6, Twinax, and fiber optics, mount cabling equipment, install support structures, including racks, ladders, trays, and j-hooks while adhering to best practices, industry standards, manufacturer and client requirements. Networking Cabling Technician must be knowledgeable in various wiring configurations, color code and terminations, as well as possess technical skills and knowledge of telecommunications industry and installations, including voice, data, and video structured cabling systems. Assist in designing, creating, implementing standards and specifications, maintain all documents related to cabling infrastructure, carry out installation of cable supports and pulling network cable pathways, testing and troubleshooting correctly copper and fiber optics installations, terminate data jacks and distribution frames. A strong working knowledge of TIA, EIA, BICSI and CSA Standards; including installation, trouble shooting and service, and working knowledge of building codes, electrical codes, communication standards, have experience in fiber optics terminations and splicing, including SC, ST and LC connectors, Belden, Panduit, BICSI or CommScope certifications are an asset. Technicians must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing about 30 lbs often. At times, they may have to lift heavier equipment. Additionally, they should be able to work in small spaces and at varying heights and will be required to climb ladders wearing proper PPE equipment. Basic written and verbal communications skills are essential for documentation, report writing, computer skills using Microsoft Office suite, must be able to perform basic math functions and must be able to differentiate colors used in cabling installations.
