The Opportunity

We are looking for a NERC Implementation Lead to join our Enterprise Asset Management\'s AM Operations Team. Reporting to the Manager, you will play a key role in establishing, managing and maintaining programs and processes to ensure compliance with the requirements of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) across NS Power. You will inform planning, provide subject matter expertise, engage in standards education and seek efficiencies and improvements to current processes to ensure compliance risks are managed, and processes and controls are sustainable. You will work closely with the NS Power\xe2\x80\x99s Power Production and Compliance teams, and engage technical subject matter experts in compliance activities.

Key elements of this role include:

  • Work with EAM and field-based Engineering, Maintenance and Operations personnel to develop and implement solutions to support the continued compliance with NERC requirements.
  • Proactively engage with industry forums to identify upcoming standards requirements and prepare the organization for upcoming changes.
  • Support Asset Management and field-based resources through change management efforts when deploying new solutions and process.
  • Seek opportunity to continuously improve, make more efficient, use innovative technologies etc. to support compliance activities.
  • Host meetings, mini-audits and other internal controls as required to ensure continued compliance with requirements.
  • Support internal and external audit efforts through collection of evidence, management of internal controls, and preparation with subject matter experts. Develop and oversee action plans to resolve self-identified gaps and audit findings.
  • Participation in relevant EAM and AM Operations team and project meetings as required to execute and scope the work, and ensure continued alignment with corporate strategy and integration of NERC compliance activities into existing processes.
  • Support EAM and/or enterprise level projects for the roll-out and implementation of solutions to support compliance requirements.
  • Develop and report on compliance metrics to communicate status across all levels of the organization
  • Over time, act as SME for NERC requirements and a resource for personnel across the organization, supporting parallel activities such as cyber-security evaluations.

  • Technical degree or diploma (Electrical Engineer, Industrial Engineer preferred)
  • Experience in project management or program management
  • 5+ years experience in industrial environment, preferably within the Electric Utility sector (Generation and/or Energy Delivery)
  • Solid communication skills, and ability to build relationships with stakeholders in all parts of the organization
  • You are an innovative and critical thinker with strong organizational skills.
  • You are highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Familiarity with NERC considered a benefit
  • Valid drivers license is required
