Position Summary
The Yukon Medical Association (YMA) is seeking a Physician Compensation Negotiations Coordinator to support negotiations with the Government of Yukon and other stakeholders. This position plays a strategic and operational role in shaping how Yukon physicians are compensated--an issue that directly impacts healthcare access and sustainability across the territory.
As the key coordinator of negotiation activities, you will manage timelines, prepare costing and research analyses, draft materials, and ensure smooth execution of all meetings and documentation. You will work closely with the CEO and negotiating team, serving as a trusted support in a sensitive, high-impact process.
This contract role offers steady hours (up to 40/week), $45/hr compensation, and the flexibility of remote work, with occasional travel to Yukon and national roundtables.
Key ResponsibilitiesNegotiation Preparation & Support
Coordinate the full negotiation workplan, timelines, and milestones.
Draft and format proposals, term sheets, and briefing packages with disciplined version control.
Prepare executive-ready notes, decks, and materials for physicians, government, and leadership.
Compensation Research & Analysis
Review physician compensation models across Canada (fee-for-service, APP, blended).
Synthesize precedents, comparators, and policy insights to support strategy development.
Costing & Scenario Modeling
Develop costing models for proposed changes, including scenario testing and sensitivity analysis.
Present clear fiscal impact summaries with documented assumptions.
Meeting Facilitation & Documentation
Organize negotiation sessions, caucuses, and stakeholder meetings (virtual or hybrid).
Record minutes, decisions, and commitments; track action items to completion.
Stakeholder Engagement
Coordinate with Yukon physicians, committees, and national partners to gather input.
Summarize engagement feedback into actionable insights for the negotiation team.
Qualifications
Education or experience in labour relations, health administration, economics, public policy, or business.
Demonstrated experience in negotiations, collective bargaining, or multi-stakeholder policy processes.
Proven ability to build costing models and financial analyses to support decision-making.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to produce polished materials.
Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to distill complex information into clear options.
Familiarity with healthcare, physician compensation, or government processes (asset; willingness to learn essential).
Ability to work independently in a remote setting with discretion, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
Preference given to candidates residing in Yukon.
