WE'RE LOOKING FOR A

NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING ("NDT")

Technician

POSITION LOCATION: FORT ERIE, ONTARIO

The Non-Destruction Testing ("NDT") Technician is responsible for performing several types of inspections such as magnetic particle, fluorescent penetrant, ultrasonic and eddy current in order to detect defect in objects of various compositions and materials. The NDT Technician is also responsible for interpreting, evaluating, and reporting results of non-destructive tests.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES



Perform Magnetic Particle Inspection and Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection



Interpreting codes, standards, specifications, and procedures Parts that need inspecting are placed on the NDT incoming rack for the technician. Included with the part is the NDT form which details type of inspection that is needed. Designating the appropriate test method. Place part in the appropriate testing media (MPI, LPI) Evaluating and interpreting results of testing (Level 2 & 3), i.e. looking for defects/cracks in part Validating Non-Destructive Testing instructions and procedures (Level 3), signs off when part passes the examination. If defect found, reject the part and it is returned to Repair & Overhaul and the Non Conformance Report (NCR) will be written.

Perform Ultrasonic Inspection and Material Testing



When part is ready for inspection, the NDT technician will be notified and will go to the part location (due to size of part) Selecting the appropriate Non-Destructive Testing technique (Level 2 & 3) based on part configuration. Conducting, interpreting, and evaluating tests to applicable codes, standards and specifications (Level 1, 2 & 3) Setting up and verifying equipment settings (Level 2 & 3) Translating Non-Destructive Testing codes, standards, specifications and procedures into Non-Destructive Testing instructions adapted to the actual part conditions (Level 3) Signs off when part passes the examination. Places on outgoing rack. If defect found (i.e. cracks, delaminations, disbonds), the technician is to reject the part and return it and issue an NCR. Material Testing on incoming material such as Lap Shear, DSC , Drum Peel etc.

Perform Eddy Current Inspection



Interpreting codes, standards, specifications, and procedures Parts that need inspecting are placed on the NDT incoming rack with NDT form attached which details type of inspection that is needed. Selecting the appropriate Non-Destructive Testing technique (Level 2 & 3) Setting up and verifying equipment settings Conducting, interpreting, and evaluating tests to applicable codes, standards and specifications Report all results of Non-Destructive Tests Translate Non-Destructive Testing codes, standards, specifications and procedures into Non-Destructive Testing instructions adapted to the actual working conditions. (Level 3) Prepare Non-Destructive Testing instructions (Level 2 & 3) Signs off when part passes the examination. If defect found, reject the part and it is returned to Repair & Overhaul and the Non Conformance Report (NCR) will be written.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS



Education



Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) certification or ability to acquire them within 12 months. Government Licensing in ultrasonic/eddy current to inspection level 1, 2, or 3 is preferred. NAS (National Aerospace Standard) 410 an asset.

Experience



Level 2 Technicians using Eddy Current or Ultrasonic testing methods - 2,000 hours Minimum. Level 3 Technicians using Eddy Current or Ultrasonic testing methods - 5,000 hours Minimum. For Magnetic particle or Fluorescent penetrant inspection - 3,000 hours Minimum.

Technical Systems Proficiency



Advanced knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office applications. Experience with SalesForce is considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities



Knowledge of Analytical electronic equipment. Technological knowledge of Eddy Current/Ultrasonic Instrument/Software Installation and customization. Scientific analytical skills. Work productively under broad supervision. Recurrent requalification - NAS/CGSB. Attention to detail. Strong communication skills. Able to work independently. Able to use proper judgment in order to solve highly complex problems. Annual eye exam required - must meet the NAS/CGSB standards to perform job.
