Health, Safety and Environmental Representative (HSE)
Kettle River Contracting is currently recruiting a professional individual to join our team as a HSE Representative.
The HSE Representative will be responsible for monitoring onsite construction projects to ensure compliance with project and jurisdictional requirements.
The HSE Representative will report directly to the onsite construction team supervision and indirectly to the Operations Manager.
This position would be field based during the construction season. In the off season, this position will may be asked to work with our management and planning teams, from one of our office locations, growing their career and knowledge base.
Job Duties:
Promote a Safe and Respectful Work Environment
Promote and Enforce a Professional Site and Labour Force
Demonstrate the capability to work under the direction of HSE leadership on multiple tasks requiring judgment to resolve problems
Perform, Educate and Document Daily Field Level Hazard Assessments
Perform, Educate and Document Daily Equipment Inspections
Perform, Educate and Document Daily Light Vehicle Inspections if Provided a Company Vehicle
Works with employees, supervisors, and management to identify potential hazards
Encourages and promotes a safe work culture with a positive attitude and team approach
Performs various levels of worksite inspections and audits and follows through with appropriate levels of coaching and support for all corrective actions
Investigate incidents, near misses, and hazardous conditions. Complete incident causation analysis, develop, implement, and follow up on corrective actions
Participate in toolbox meetings, weekly safety meetings and client and HSE team meetings as required
Assistance in creating Job Safety Analysis and perform updates as conditions and processes change
Maintain a working knowledge of current OH&S legislation, Federal and Provincial laws as well as company standards and policies
Provide mentoring to workers and leaders in maintaining safe work habits and practices
Participate and contribute with ongoing procedural, policy and other documentation development and updates as required
Proactively identifies leading indicators and trends in the field and communicates the same back to the field and corporate
Investigates incidents and near misses with foremen and other key management
Communicates established policies, practices and procedures to workers and remain informed on changes provided by the Operations Manager
Documentation Control for all safety and environmental related items associated with your work project
Possess a Valid Driver's License (class 5 or equivalent)
Operate and Maintain in a Professional Manner, any Kettle River Contracting Provided Assets including Cell Phones, Computers and Vehicles
Adhere to all Kettle River Policies
Train, Mentor and Lead other Employees

Job Requirements:
Possess a valid NCSO Designation in Good Standing
Minimum of Valid Class 5 Drivers License
Minimum of 3 Year Experience in the Construction Industry in an HSE Role
Strong Leadership, Communication, Interpersonal and Supervisory Skills
Be Fit for Duty
Able to Work in Various Environments and Weather Conditions
Must be Safety Orientated, Self-Motivated and Work Well with Other Employees and Subcontractors
Have Good Organizational Skills
Self-Disciplined
Pass Pre-Employment, Annually, and Post Incident Drug and Alcohol Testing
Canadian Registered Safety Professional (considered an asset)
