Position Details: (1) Full Time Permanent and (1) 12-month term (parental leave),
Starting Salary: starting at $67,100 (based on a 35-hour work week and commensurate with individual education and experience, as it relates to the position).
Location: Remote or hybrid in any DUC office across Canada
Closing Deadline: November 2, 2025 (11:59 PM EST)
What You Will Do

  • Plan, coordinate and deliver national education initiatives.
  • Design and deliver education programs tailored to specific audiences (e.g., K-12, post-secondary, corporate) using in-person, virtual, and hybrid formats.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and adapt content based on feedback and outcomes.
  • Develop curriculum-aligned resources and experiential learning opportunities that reflect conservation priorities.
  • Support strategic planning and delivery of programming at DUC's interpretive centres and contribute to regional education and outreach efforts.
  • Contribute to funding proposals and philanthropic initiatives that support education programming and organizational goals.
  • Collaborate across portfolios and teams to develop education-related materials, communications content and support other shared goals and initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with educators, youth, corporate partners, Indigenous Nations, other conservation or education organizations, and community groups.
  • Participate in team planning and mentorship, adapting to organizational needs and emerging priorities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field (education, biology, resource management, communications, etc.)
  • At least 3 years of experience in education, youth engagement, conservation, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of conservation principles and environmental outreach practices.
  • Knowledge of education/school systems, curricula, and environmental education trends relevant to student engagement.
  • Ability to develop creative and innovative approaches to engage youth and other audiences in appropriate activities and actions to support DUC's mission.
  • Familiarity with digital tools and platforms for education delivery.
  • Proven skills in establishing and maintaining relationships with colleagues, funders, partners, and stakeholders, including ability to negotiate and reach agreement with diverse stakeholders.
  • Comfortable using communications technology and social media to engage audiences and promote education activities. Ability to create and adapt communications products (e.g., web content, social media posts, presentations) using appropriate tools and platforms.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all seasons and engage in moderate physical tasks (e.g. water testing, trail building, tree planting, nest box construction, displays, etc.).
  • Role involves regular computer use and participation in workshops, public events, and field-based education activities.
  • Travel within the country may be required, as well as occasional evening or weekend work.
