Expert Category Management consultant to internal stakeholders on Home & Personal Care (HPC).

  • Category Management consultant to internal teams (sales, Business Development Managers (BDM's), Customer Analytics Managers (CAM's), Senior Leadership Team (SLT)) to identify National HPC opportunities that deliver category and customer growth through fact based recommendations.
  • Demands high energy, assertive management skills, an aptitude to resolve complex problems, understand market dynamics and employ good decision making skills.
  • Category Development Manager assesses trends, analyzes shopper data and syndicated/point of sale data to identify key category opportunities for growth.
  • Role requires a solid understanding of Category Management processes and practices and will collaborate with both our customers and internal teams in the areas of effective product assortment, shelf merchandising, promotional and pricing recommendations.
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Acts as the category expert in HPC by delivering category best practice presentations that identify category opportunities for Colgate brands.
  • Develop National sales presentations to aid in listing new innovation and reason to be
  • Utilize shelf management software and category expertise to assess gaps in fair share of shelf, providing Best in Class shelf placement strategy for new items and existing products, with an objective of securing distribution/placement
  • Establish strong, multi-level working relationships across internal teams based on mutual trust and integrity
  • Communicate and reinforce brand strategies & priorities to the Team.
  • Support brand strategies/priorities working with BDM/ABDM's/Marketing to support creation of new product initiatives accordingly
  • Support category management growth through the application of the most recent sales technologies including shelf management technologies, point of sale systems and Nielsen applications, with emphasis on fact based selling.
  • Determine the effectiveness of Colgate National promotions through post-analysis, and make recommendations for change
  • Develop with BDM, Grow the Head strategy, demonstrating efficient assortment optimization to support innovation, assessment of tail and enable growth within HPC
  • Utilize consumer panel data quarterly to assess changes in shopping behaviour within HPC categories to drive category solutions and provide recommendations for change (ie. innovation, delists, size changes, format changes, etc.)
  • Actively participate in team building and best practice sharing to increase team effectiveness.
  • Work across all functional areas of the customer development team in developing the business.
  • Nationally assess monthly scorecards to determine drivers of change within HPC to report back to the business, dig into areas for further assessment and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Nationally, monitor the execution of 5P activities in line with established objectives and guidelines (semi annual)
Background Required
  • HBA, BBA, B. Comm/MBA or equivalent required
  • 3+ years of similar consumer product sales industry background, consumer brand industry or other relevant sales/marketing experience required
  • 2+ years experience in Category Management using a syndicated service (Nielsen, IRI, Retail Link, etc) required
  • Proficient skills in JDA Space Planning & Microsoft applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Numerator, Nielsen Answers Desktop, Nielsen Homescan, Connect preferred
  • Proficiency in working with cross-functional teams to achieve business results
Salary Range $68,880 - $101,220 USD
Pay is based on several non discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience, education, skills and office location. In addition to your salary, Colgate-Palmolive offers a performance based bonus and competitive benefits package.
