Job Opportunity
The Na?lhiny Program Instructor will support the delivery of community-based horseback riding sessions and horsemanship activities. This role will focus on teaching riding skills and horse care to youth, and may also include adult and elder sessions, both in-community and in Williams Lake. The instructor will bring knowledge of western riding and an understanding of the healing relationship between people and horses, helping participants build confidence, connection, and skills through riding.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver riding instruction and horsemanship activities to youth, adults and Elders
Support the development of beginner to intermediate to experienced riders
Build a program with planning, preparation and end goal purpose in collaboration with the Equine Program Manager and Community Development Department.
Provide mentorship and encourage positive relationships with horses
Maintain a safe and respectful environment for participants and animals
Assist with the care and handling of horses before, during, and after sessions
Participate in community-based and off-reserve (Williams Lake) programming
Support special events or cultural activities involving horses
Help maintain and care for tack and equipment to ensure it is safe and ready to use
Assist with the Annual Horse and Bike Ride and preparing program participants for the 4+ day ride.
Qualifications & Skills
Western riding and horsemanship skills.
Experience working with youth and/or adults in a hands-on learning setting.
Understanding of the cultural and healing significance of horses in Indigenous communities.
Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between Tl'etinqox and Williams Lake.
Ability to pull a trailer with horses.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to follow and promote safety protocols.

Working Conditions
Work will be conducted in both the Tl'etinqox community (Hour west of WL) and Williams Lake.
The role includes evening programming on select days each week.
Weekend work required as needed.
Travel will be required.
Must be able to lift horse tack, drive a truck, and pull a horse trailer.
