Visit us today and check out to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.About the OpportunityWorking within the Recreational Therapy team, the Music Therapist provides compassionate care that respects human dignity and acknowledges the various abilities of patients. The Music Therapist collaborates with an interdisciplinary team, guided by the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics for Music Therapists (set by the Canadian Association for Music Therapy) to support the patient plan of care with musical interventions delivered in group settings or 1:1. The Music Therapist demonstrates sound professional judgment and initiative while working within the established philosophy, guidelines, policies, and procedures of the organization.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy (including the completion of 1000-hour clinical internship.)
  • Current registration with the Canadian Association of Music Therapy.
  • Minimum of one-year combined experience in the delivery of music therapy in a healthcare setting would be an asset
  • Experience with geriatric population or geriatric psychiatry population would be considered an asset.
  • Professional music skills including proficiency on piano or guitar and voice; and ability to improvise on primary instruction.
  • Ability to comfortably navigate grief and emotionally rich environments
  • Excellent oral, written and listening communication skills.
  • Ability to interact positively with patients, families, other health care providers and staff with a pleasant and cooperative attitude, demonstrating sensitivity, empathy, and warmth.
  • Ability to adapt and understand patients\' needs, assisting them in meeting their fullest physical and emotional potential within the prescribed therapy using both active and passive engagement
  • Ability to build strong therapeutic relationships
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health.
