Little Fingers Music is a Toronto-based educational and entertainment studio that specializes in providing primary school children with music education through song, dance, and specialized workshops. Little Fingers Music is a collective of young people who are into music and teaching and need basic training in group teaching. We train the teachers in a method that covers music basics but is also fun. We encourage our teachers to act as "camp counselors" as we use fun songs and games to reinforce our learning concepts.
Role Description
This is a part-time on-site role for a Music Teacher. Classes run weekdays from 3pm-5pm Monday to Friday. You will be working with children in small groups, coaching, providing instruction, prepping and teaching group piano keyboard classes and written theory with a teaching partner to JK-SK, G1-G3 learners in person in various schools located in midtown Toronto. Experienced teachers will also be booked to teach "one on one" private piano lesson in the homes of graduating students ($30/30 mins) as students become available. Teacher training includes: a music curriculum, written theory, songs and games, arrival and dismissal procedures, and class management strategies from an OCT certified teacher. Teachers are trained at our home base at Groove School of Dance on Eglinton at Avenue Rd. Once teachers have finished basic training, they will be expected to handle 3-6 children at a time. Teachers are encouraged to prepare their own lesson plans for down time after the keyboard and theory lessons are completed.
Qualifications
Vulnerable Sector Check is required. You must have a current VSC that is less than a year old.
Proof of Citizenship or Work Permit is required
You must be available Tuesdays from 3pm-5pm
OCT certified or ECE certified (or working towards degree in either field) is a major plus
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Highly motivated, enthusiastic, and energetic demeanor
Not afraid to lead a room and have fun while doing so!
Knowledgeable in providing music education to primary school children
Music Theory knowledge and experience with Music Performance
Experience coaching/teaching music, piano, and singing.
