Position Summary:



Reporting to the Supervisor, By-Law Enforcement, this position is responsible for informing the public, business and other groups of the details of related by-laws and provincial legislation/regulations to build understanding. Enforcing and gaining compliance with municipal by-laws, Provincial legislation/regulations and monitor compliance of agreements between the Town and other parties.



Key Duties and Responsibilities:



Investigate and resolve complaints registered with the municipality with respect to municipal by-laws, Provincial legislation and agreements to which the Town is party to in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Department. Responsible for the enforcement and investigation of municipal by-laws, including, but not limited to, Parks & Facilities, Zoning, Noise, Waste Collection, Property Standards, Water, STA and Signs Respond to and enforce complaints regarding to Animal Control By-Law matters including Dogs at Large; Dog Owner's Liability Act (DOLA); assisting the Ontario Provincial Police and the Grey Bruce Health Unit with respect to potentially rabid animals Respond to all complaints about dogs, including dog bites and seize dogs found to be running at large and/or stray, confine dogs and deliver them to the Georgian Triangle Humane Society Work in partnership with the Georgian Triangle Humane Society for surrendering dogs and work to reunite dogs to their owners Prepare, issue, and serve Provincial Offences Act Parking Infraction Notices and Administrative Monetary Penalties for Parking Infraction Notices according to the appropriate Parking By-Law Draft Notices, Orders, and other correspondence with respect to contraventions of municipal by-laws, Provincial legislation and agreements to which the Town is party to. Keep detailed and accurate notes and files and collect evidence for legal proceedings.

What you will need:



2-year post-secondary diploma in an approved Law Enforcement Program, Police Studies/Foundations, Law & Security, Justice and Administration or related discipline. Certification as a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer with the Municipal Law Enforcement Officers Association of Ontario. Willing to work towards certification as a Property Standards Officer with the Ontario Association of Property Standards Officers. Minimum of 5 years of law enforcement or related experience. Knowledge of short-term accommodation preferred. Must be capable of performing the physical requirements of the position. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office applications; knowledge of parking ticket software application would be an asset. Excellent interpersonal, communication, public relations, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy by working independently and as part of an enforcement team. General understanding and appreciation of downtown and local attractions. Possess a Criminal Record Check with results satisfactory to the Town.

This is a Full Time permanent opportunity at the Town. The hourly rate for this role is $68,333.27- $79,936.68 - hourly rate (2025 Rate). The Town also offers the following to our employees:
