Multimedia Reporter

Humboldt, SK, Canada

Job Description

The Humboldt Journal was formed in 1905 -- the same year Saskatchewan became a province. We are part of the Glacier Media Group. You will be joining a remote newsroom based in Humboldt, a thriving city 113 km east of Saskatoon. Our extremely friendly community boasts over 30 acres of parkland, along with a recreational facility that features an aquatic centre, curling rink, fitness centre, convention centre and sports arena, which is home to the Humboldt Broncos and minor hockey teams. Humboldt is expected to undergo a transformation and population growth in the next several years due to a multi-billion-dollar potash mine being built nearby.
We are looking for a talented Multi-Media Reporter to join our team.
The successful candidate will focus on local governments, school boards and First Nations in the communities of Humboldt, Tisdale, Melfort, Nipawin, Hudson Bay and surrounding areas.
For 117 years, we've been telling the stories of citizens from this slice of northeast Saskatchewan -- first in print and, most recently, in a digital-only format on SASKTODAY.ca. While text articles are the primary format, you will embrace digital platforms and have opportunities to produce photo, video and/or audio reporting.
Your journalism will uncover stories that need to be told, help set discussion and policy in northeast Saskatchewan, and build relationships and a stronger sense of community amongst our audiences.
The stories you produce will be distributed across Saskatchewan communities through our provincial website, sasktoday.ca, as well through other news outlets as part of the federal government's Local Journalism Initiative.
