Job Description
The Department of Biology of the University of Prince Edward Island is seeking a Laboratory Coordinator to manage and instruct laboratory periods in field-related courses (that may include but are not limited to Environmental Biology and Ecology) and laboratory-based courses (that may include but are not limited to Genetics and Physiology).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Organizing travel to field sites for laboratory activities
- Coordinating and instructing laboratory periods. The coordinator is also responsible for all aspects of laboratory assessments
- Interviewing, hiring, and supervising staff for multiple laboratory sections
- Designing original educational materials to meet the instructional needs of the course(s)
- Assisting with other lab-related duties as assigned by the course instructors or Chair of the Department
- B.Sc. in Biology, with a strong background in ecology, physiology, and genetics
- B.Ed. or M.Sc. would be a definite asset
- Excellent scientific communication skills
- Demonstrated experience instructing biology laboratory periods
