Job Description

The Operations Manager for Material Supply & Logistics (MSL) will oversee the day-to-day operations of the team, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective delivery of consumable supplies and rental equipment to support construction projects and all Tomlinson Teams. This role will focus on optimizing inventory management, streamlining processes, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction, and driving operational improvements. The Operations Manager will also be responsible for leading a team, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and company policies.




DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES




Manage daily operations of MSL, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of materials and equipment to construction sites. Oversee inventory control, ensuring adequate stock levels, proper tracking, and efficient use of consumables and rental equipment. Implement systems for tracking and forecasting inventory needs. Work with MSL Truck Foreman to ensure efficient and effective use of resources. + CVOR compliance
+ Repair and maintenance scheduling
+ Oversee driver performance and support Truck Foreman with disciplinary actions and process improvement
+ Work with Drivers and Dispatch to ensure a safe working environment for the trucks while in transit
Ensure safe operating procedures and processes are followed Work with Supervisors at MSL to develop process documents and continuous improvement. Ensure excellent customer service by managing customer inquiries, addressing concerns, and ensuring quick resolution of any issues related to supplies and equipment. Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes, recommending and implementing efficiency improvements, cost-saving initiatives, and best practices for inventory management, logistics, and equipment handling. Conduct weekly site visits to gather feedback on MSL's performance and work towards improvements for field staff Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to ensure timely availability of required materials and equipment, supporting the successful completion of construction projects. Maintain complete and effective lines of communication with staff and senior management. Perform analysis of our inventory and ensure we are utilizing our inventory effectively, purchasing the right equipment, maintaining solid inventory data and reduce sub-rental expenses. Contribute operations information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews: + prepare and complete action plans
+ implement production, productivity, quality and customer-service standards
+ identify trends and implement corrective measures
Collaborate with Equipment / Service Coordinator to create business cases for new resource requirements. Employee Management: + Lead, coach and mentor a team of warehouse, logistics, and customer service staff, fostering a collaborative and performance-driven culture.
+ Establish and implement performance metrics, holding employees accountable set metrics
+ Provide ongoing development and growth opportunities for direct and indirect reports.
+ Conducts regular, scheduled 1:1s with direct reports and ensures they occur throughout the division.
+ Defines direct reports performance goals and insures alignment with overall corporate goals.
+ Writes and delivers evaluations and development plans to direct reports.
+ Communicates and enforces corporate discipline policy.
+ Participate in the interview process and provide feedback on candidates.
+ Assist with new employee onboarding tasks.



REQUIREMENTS




Minimum of five (5) years relevant work experience in Construction / Customer Service Industry Demonstrated ability of the Tomlinson Leadership Competencies Maintain and demonstrate superior interpersonal written and oral skills in daily relations, negotiations, and reporting/stats. Ability to identify and communicate innovative methods to perform job tasks. Proficiency in SAP, Microsoft Power Apps, SALUS, Outlook, Excel, and other required software. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. An ability to think outside of the box and thrive on new challenges. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent organizational skills.
