Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson is currently accepting a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Intern from the students taking the Graduate Diploma in Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Management Innovation (PHMI) at the Queen's University. The intern will be based in the Greater Toronto Area.

The MSL Intern will report to the MSL Sr. Manager, CVM, and will rotate between assigned therapeutic areas. They will provide support in the execution of the Medical Affairs Plan and help address the medical, scientific and research needs of the healthcare professionals (HCPs) within specific guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support MSLs to disseminate, review and present clinical and scientific data in a balanced, unbiased manner, to key opinion leaders (KOLs) and other HCP's, in group and one-on-one settings (virtual and/or in-person meetings).
  • Help develop scientific communication materials (slide presentations) for dissemination to HCPs through contacts and meetings and provide congress support
  • Attend in medical and scientific forums (e.g., CMEs and OLAs) where HCPs are involved.
  • Support investigator-initiated studies by assisting MSLs in fielding and assessing research requests, aligning investigator interests with Janssen's research needs, and engaging investigators to ensure the successful execution and satisfactory completion of studies.
  • Provide clinical consultation and support to business partners (e.g. Medical Education, Medical Information, Sales and Marketing, as appropriate).
  • Partner and collaborate with internal business partners to facilitate ongoing exchange of clinical information.
Qualifications
  • Graduate Degree (Master's Degree at a minimum)
  • Should be legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Currently enrolled in the Graduate Diploma in PHMI at the Queen's University
  • Available for a 6-month internship placement starting in January 2022
  • Previous experience as an MSL in the pharmaceutical industry an advantage but not required
  • Strong knowledge of GCP, Rx&D code and Healthcare Compliance policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with working in an environment guided by SOPs
  • Proven ability to learn quickly, assimilate and distill large amounts of information and build and manage relationships
  • Highly developed communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively simplify and communicate complex material to a diverse array of audiences
  • Ability to put data into perspective and communicate it concisely, as required.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, strong project management skills and ability to impact decision-making with relevant partners
  • Business insight required, including prioritization and big picture orientation
  • Scientific knowledge, curiosity, familiarity and interest to stay on top of emerging data and scientific trends
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, multitask and follow through
  • Critical thinking and positive track record of flawless execution
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant software programs
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time. Overnight travel may be required.
