MRT (R) / CT Technologist - Temporary Part-Time
The MRT is responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing medical imaging procedures. They are responsible for the use of equipment and lead protective clothing to minimize extraneous radiation to patients and personnel, the care, safely operate, collimate, adjust, set and position x-ray equipment, diagnostic quality of x-ray films and the maintenance of records, stock of supplies and organization of work schedules. They must report all hazardous conditions immediately. The CT Technologist is responsible for performing high quality diagnostic imaging procedures using computed tomography equipment. The CT Technologist is also responsible for maintenance of records, stock of supplies, and organization of work schedules.

Mandatory Requirements:
Current registration with CMRITO as MRT (R).
CT certification, 2 years' experience actively working independently in CT
Interest / Experience in mammography
CPR Certification

Responsibilities:
MRT (R) TECHNOLOGIST
Takes and explains prescribed diagnostic radiographs of various portions of body to assist providers in detection of foreign bodies and diagnoses of diseases and injuries.
Determines technique, positions patient under x-ray machine and regulates controls to expose selected identified detectors.
Assists in-special procedures as assigned.
Assists the Radiologist and/or physician as need arises.
Ensures that the radiographic room is in neat order and adequately supplied.
Provides and maintains radiation protective devices and a safe environment.
Performs clerical duties - answers telephone; schedules examinations; transcribes data, reports and medical information.
Completes all relevant documentation according to departmental standards. Assures confidentiality of patient information in all interactions and documentation, and follows the Public Hospitals Act regarding maintenance and flow of legal documents. Maintain relevant statistical information.
Develops and maintains an individual professional development portfolio. Assumes responsibility for own continuing professional education.
Records hours worked and periodically submit a report for payroll purposes.
Provides input concerning department budget, annual goals and objectives, and monthly variances.
Performs regularly scheduled preventive maintenance. Report to Maintenance/other appropriate departments any faulty equipment or hazardous conditions to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
Provides orientation and guidance to students and volunteers within the department. Delegate responsibilities appropriately.
CT SCAN TECHNOLOGIST
Operate CT scanners to produce cross-sectional images of patients' internal organs and tissues.
Obtain relevant history relating to the CT exam being performed.
Prepare and position patients for scans, explaining procedures and addressing concerns.
Obtains consent from patient for contrast media injection.
Starts IV for contrast injection.
Administer contrast agents under physician direction when required.
Monitor patients during procedures for safety and comfort.
Evaluate image quality and ensure diagnostic accuracy.
Maintain accurate patient records and document procedures.
Follow radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure.
Perform routine equipment checks and coordinate maintenance.
Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare teams to support patient care.
Notify radiologist when stat or urgent report required.
Perform CT according to established protocols.
Ensures that the CT room is in neat order and adequately supplied.
