Position Summary:
As part of the Access & Awareness team, the Moving on to Fitness Program Instructors will assist in the
delivery of the Moving on to Fitness Program to participants of varied abilities referred from outpatient
rehabilitation programs. The program is designed as 4-week modules for individuals who have had a stroke.
Sessions will promote active healthy lifestyles to get involved in community fitness activities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Participating in the planning and delivery of the Moving on to Fitness Program.
Becoming familiar with program partnerships, the program content and goals of the program as they
pertain to the participants and the program itself.
Promoting programs, services and membership opportunities and community
initiatives.
Promoting physical activity and a healthy lifestyle.
Other related duties as assigned.
Key Competencies and Qualifications:
Diploma or degree in therapeutic recreation leisure, recreation and Leisure, Kinesiology, disability
studies, physical health and fitness or related field experience. Valid CPR, First Aid, AED certifications.
Dependable and reliable.
Inclusive Customer service skills.
Ability to represent in a positive and professional manner with both internal and
external contacts.
Experience working with people of varied abilities (physical, developmental, medical)
Excellent communication skill, with the ability to adapt communication style to meet participant
needs and interest.
