Ubisoft Toronto was founded in 2010 and has contributed to many award-winning Ubisoft brands including Assassin\'s Creed\xc2\xae, Far Cry\xc2\xae, For Honor\xe2\x84\xa2 and Tom Clancy\'s Splinter Cell\xc2\xae. In 2018, the team at Ubisoft Toronto developed its first new IP, Starlink: Battle for Atlas, and a new technology that seamlessly blends physical and digital gameplay. In 2020, Ubisoft Toronto led the development of the newest game in the Watch Dogs franchise - Watch Dogs: Legion. Ubisoft Toronto received praise for the tech and design work, for creating the first game in which you can in an open world, and for its rich and detailed rendition of a future London. On being a Motion Capture Intern at Ubisoft Toronto

Our large team of experts bring your story to life. The 12,000 square foot, state of the art performance capture studio is outfitted with 80 Vicon T-160 cameras to capture subtle performances with extreme accuracy, perfect for everything from a solo performance to large multi-character scenes.

Our studio is also an excellent sound stage ready to record high-fidelity audio, virtually eliminating the need for ADR.

Together with professional photogrammetry station the Ubisoft Toronto Performance Capture Studio delivers the ultimate, immersive entertainment experiences.

A motion capture intern, along with the capture technicians, are responsible for ensuring that shoot days run smoothly and efficiently while ensuring high quality data capture.

Type of Position: Full-time, paid internship

Length of internship: 4 months

Start Time: September 2023

Location: Toronto - Hybrid (Remote & In-Studio), must reside in Ontario

Eligibility: This position is ONLY available for Ontario post-secondary students. Applicants cannot be graduated nor graduating BEFORE January 2024.

The Daily Life of a Motion Capture Intern at Ubisoft Toronto

Suit and marker up motion capture talent;

Maintain and use complex computer systems and camera hardware to capture human/animal/object performances;

Assist Capture Technicians with several ongoing R&D projects;

Setup, maintain and capture using our DSLR 3d scanning systems;

Assisting Propmaster with props and set construction;

Tasks surrounding the day to day maintenance of a busy production studio.

Perform other related tasks as required.

Qualifications

What it takes to make it

Working toward a degree/diploma/certification in; Film and Television Arts, New Media, Cinematography, Computer Science, VFX or 3D Animation/Modelling;

Some experience in a production environment;

Solid knowledge of personal computers, networks and software;

A passion for lifelong learning;

Nice to have

Working knowledge of the following software: Motionbuilder, Maya, Unreal, Unity, zBrush, Reality Capture, Wrap3, Photoscan, Shogun, and/or Office 360 suite;

Motion Capture experience - specifically Vicon Motion Capture Systems (Shogun, Blade or iQ);

Prop Building or carpentry skills;

Video System experience including timecode and live sync of multiple sources;

Electronics- design, soldering, raspberry Pi, Arduino;

Autonomous and resourceful;

Ability to take initiative;

Attention to detail;

Flexibility in work organization;

Good communication and interpersonal skills;

Ability to work as part of a team;

Ability to adapt to change;

Results-oriented.
