Job Description

SUMMARY:

We are seeking a mortgage underwriter, that can review and underwrite residential mortgages. Ideally, the candidate is a problem solver and well-versed in A, B and private residential mortgages.

A fixed salary is offered for this position, along with other flexible arrangements such as low split if you are also an agent. This is a contracted position, so be prepared for your own tax planning.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Review and process residential mortgage applications in a timely and effective manner. You will utilize your detailed knowledge of residential mortgage files, adjudicate mortgages using lender guidelines and put a deal together for submission.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

Think and act like a problem solver. Have a can-do attitude to find solutions for borrowers.
Have a team player mindset and work with other people to achieve success.
Understanding residential mortgage underwriting. Knowledge of commercial mortgages is an asset.
Familiarity with lender requirements, programs, and policies.
Handle correspondence and telephone inquiries from clients and lenders (as required).
Experience in mortgage lending and brokering.
In-Depth knowledge of principles of credit analysis and risk management.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Working knowledge of PC software in a Windows environment.
Ability to handle pressure caused by high volumes and tight turnaround deadlines.
A very strong customer focus is required with an ability to ensure that customer satisfaction is the highest priority.

Experience: 1 year industry experience minimum.
